Moto Movie Night : The Wild One

The Wild One Motorcycle Movie Vintage Classic Cinema Film Washington DC

"The concept of the ‘motorcycle outlaw’ was as uniquely American as jazz. Nothing like them had ever existed." Hunter S. Thompson.

Yes it's from 1953 and yes it's black & white, but it's also seriously good. Starring Lee Marvin & Marlon Brando - THE WILD ONE - is the ORIGINAL Outlaw Motorcycle Movie.

"Loosely" based on the Hollister Motorcycle Riot. This is the same riot that inspired Hunter S. Thompson to imbed himself with the Hell's Angels and ultimately lead to, his break out work of narrative nonfiction, "Hell's Angels : The Strange and Terrible Saga of the Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs". Worth a read if you haven't yet.

Also, if you're reading, check out the short story "The Cyclists Raid"[PDF]. Also about the Hollister riots and a direct influence on The Wild One.

In a deep winter change up - we'll be hosting the movie across the street at BIG CHIEF. Do not BYOB - b/c they're a bar - food is encouraged though.

Not to be missed! 8PM - Free BIG CHIEF 2002 Fenwick ST. NE DC
